On Monday, 22 June, I had the absolute pleasure of heading out to Mount Samson as a part of the Moreton Bay Events & Tourism Famil. For anyone who follows our journey, you know we love a good country escape—especially one that works hard to think about accessibility.
Sitting beautifully at the foothills of the D’Aguilar Range, Trevena Glen Farm is widely known as Brisbane’s premier hands-on farm experience. With everything from fluffy alpacas and donkeys to pigs and horses, it’s a brilliant, wholesome day out. But as always, my main mission was to see how it shapes up for mobility-device users, and I’m incredibly pleased to report that this working farm is putting a massive emphasis on inclusion.
Here is exactly what you need to know if you are planning a rolling visit!
A Dedicated Space to Unwind (With a Stair Lift!)
One of the absolute standout highlights inside the main building is their dedicated upstairs mezzanine level. Farm days can sometimes be sensory-rich and tiring, so they have created a beautiful, calm space upstairs specifically designed for carers and families to take a breather, chill out, and regroup.
Even better? They have installed a stair lift to ensure that this entire space is accessible to those who need assistance getting up to the second level. It’s a wonderful, thoughtful touch that shows they truly understand the diverse needs of their visitors.
BYO Picnics & Country Vibes

If you love a relaxed lunch, Trevena Glen is incredibly welcoming. You are completely free to BYO picnic to enjoy under the fresh mountain air. There is plenty of open space to park your chair, throw down a rug for the family, and soak up the classic rural atmosphere while the kids burn off energy on the playground or ride the miniature train.
Essential Accessibility Details to Note

- The Terrain: Make no mistake, this is an authentic, working country farm! While there are bitumen pathways connecting the main central infrastructure, the vast majority of the terrain leading around the animal paddocks consists of uneven grass and dirt. Because of the natural lumps, bumps, and softer ground, a powered wheelchair or a robust mobility scooter is highly recommended to comfortably navigate the outdoor farm trails independently.
- Parking: When you pull up, note that there isn’t a marked, line-dashed “disabled parking bay” in the main lot. However, don’t let that deter you—the farm features ample, wide-open parking spaces onsite close to the main facilities, meaning you will have plenty of rear or side clearance to safely deploy ramps or hoist systems from your vehicle.
- Facilities: There is a fully accessible, step-free wheelchair restroom onsite to ensure absolute comfort during your day out.
The Verdict?

It is so refreshing to see an agri-tourism operator in the Moreton Bay region stepping up to the plate for the NDIS and the accessible travel community. Trevena Glen Farm does a wonderful job of marrying an authentic country experience with modern, thoughtful facilities like their upstairs sanctuary. If you have a powered chair that handles standard grass with ease, this needs to be on your Brisbane hinterland bucket list!
Huge thanks to Moreton Bay Events & Tourism for having us along for the day.
